Vampire Academy - Last Sacrifice

Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6)Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I so loved the last instalment of Rose and Dimitri's story that I will not dare to critisize anything of this book. Not that I'm saying there was something to critisize, but I think sometimes when one loves a story so much you do not "see" many of the things that irritate you in other books.

After finishing this book I had such an overwhelming feeling of wellbeing that I was in a good mood for the entire weekend. I love Richelle Mead's writing. Her characters (including her female characters) are strong and do not need the other characters to define them. She is not afraid to let her female leads look vulnerable from time to time (which is very realistic) but also do not make them depend on the male leads for their safety and happiness.

I was a bit peeved at Rose for breaking Adrian's heart as she did, because he kind of grew on me, but let's face it... we all knew it was inevitable. And there were some hints in the storyline that Adrian will have his happy ending in upcoming books. I am so happy for Rose and Dimitri as their road has not been a smooth one. I believe because of Dimitri, I now have very unrealistic expectations in men.
I shall not extrapolate on the story in this review, because I would hate spoiling it for anyone who read the story. Go grab the book as quick as you can and finish this series. This book had a little bit of everything, including sadness, suspense, intrigue, comedy and so much more. I am very happy to hear that we shall at least see 6 more books from the Vampire Academy store, as there were some questions left unanswered and I would love to hear what happens to the other characters.

This is young adult fantasy at its best (without the vulnerable girl meets strong boy, love at first site line that grinds on my nerves).
