Waiting on Wednesday - 12 January 2011

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by . This week I'm cheating a bit because I'm listing two WoW's, but seeing as only one is a book I am not feeling guilty.

My bookish WoW this week is the 5th installment of the brilliant Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost. I read these books quite a while ago and sometimes forget how in awe of them I am. After Twilight (which I freely admit to have liked despite the bad writing) this was my favourite series! I loved that the characters were adults and that their love story was not just a "love at first site" one. Who am I kidding? MY main motivation for loving this series is Bones all the way! Hahaha! Anyway enough of my ramblings my WoW this week, which I can really hardly wait for is:

Here is the blurp from Goodreads:

Danger waits on both sides of the grave.

Half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her vampire husband Bones have fought for their lives, as well as for their relationship. But just when they've triumphed over the latest battle, Cat's new and unexpected abilities threaten to upset a long-standing balance . . .

With the mysterious disappearance of vampires, rumors abound that a species war is brewing. A zealot is inciting tensions between the vampires and ghouls, and if these two powerful groups clash, innocent mortals could become collateral damage. Now Cat and Bones are forced to seek help from a dangerous "ally"—the ghoul queen of New Orleans herself. But the price of her assistance may prove more treacherous than even the threat of a supernatural war . . . to say nothing of the repercussions Cat never imagined.

My second WoW this week is a movie! And you might not all agree with my choice, but I was watching Eclipse last night with a friend that hadn't watched it before and I realised that I am really dying to see how they adapt the last book to screen. In my view the movies improved exponentially from Twilight to Eclipse and I believe it has everything to do with the Directors, the last two of which were two of my favourites! So my movie WoW for this week is the Breaking Dawn Movie.

What is your WoW this week?

Believe it or not I just got the first book in the Night Huntress series and so I am a bit behind but can't wait to read it.

As for your second WOW yes I agree I can't wait to see how they split it into two movies as well.

Here's My WOW

I haven't read any of the books in the Night Huntress series, actually, I've never read any urban Fantasies, but it sounds intriguing. Definitely can't wait to see the movie. Still have to finish New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn books. Ugh! Good picks.

Good pick Sonette, Jeaniene Frost created a very solid fan base off of the character of Bones and we all love her for it! I too love the series and hope you enjoy this book as much as the rest of the series when you get to read it! My WoW

I agree with you, I can't wait to see how they adapt Breaking Dawn. There are so many different scenes that could be difficult to film and can have a bunch of different visual interpretations. I'm really curious to see what they do with it.

I also wonder how they'll change Kristen Steward's appearance for when she becomes Badass Bella.

I've never heard of this book, but I'm so with you on the Breaking Dawn adaptation. I really don't understand why they're splitting it into two films (other than $$ reasons), but I can't hardly wait to see them. The director is really good, so I'm sure it'll be beautiful. Excellent WoW choices!

one more UF book that I found today. The synopsis is intrigueing. Do you have suggestion for a beginner, which UF book would you pick?

I did This Side of the Grave for my WOW a couple of weeks ago. And I'm right there with you on Breaking Dawn.

@Aleetha- I would definitely recommended Jeaniene Frost to a UF newbie.

Mission to Read

@ Kiwi, welcome and thank you. Hope to hear much more from you.

@ BLHMistress, you will love the entire Night Huntress series!

@ June G & Aleetha, I tend to find urban fantasy has a bit more depth than the normal YA fantasy, especially the adult urban fantasy novels! You should really give Night Huntress a try! You will not be disappointed.

Hey there...for some reason I can't find the place to comment on your Nightshade review. I wanted to tell you how much I liked the review. Your thoughts on how odd/distasteful Calla's physical reactions to Ren and Shea were and the issues of women being subjugated to men were very interesting.

I would pick this as my WOW every week until it's released but I think people would get tired of seeing it. But it's Bones, nuff' said!
BTW, Jeaniene posted the first 2 chapters on her website today!
